"Divisiveness"
MAGA has it's own definition for this word
Just remember this when the White House gaslights you with their latest lectures on “divisiveness” and “unity”...
When they say “unity”, they mean unity BEHIND TRUMP, and not behind the office of the presidency, but behind Trump as a person.
There is a MAGA logic to this...
When Trump says incredibly divisive things, almost daily (calling his opponents “vermin,” celebrating people’s deaths, threatening to ban Muslims from the US), they don’t see this as “divisive.” They see it as the extreme amounts of deference allotted to the Emperor, because he is keeping them safe and happy. Any hurt feelings over these things are negligible. Thus, the charge of “TDS” whenever anyone reacts negatively to his vileness: they literally think you are “deranged” for not understanding how this works.
Most hardcore Trumpists perform a toughness or masculinity in an attempt to come off as individualistic (unlike the liberal “sheeple”). But underneath this is a deep, profound need for an authoritative figure to tell them who to be in a fluctuating world that scares them. They are aghast at people who don’t have the same need.
When you don’t worship him, or give him a pass, or literally even repeat his own words back to them, they call you deranged. It is the only way they can deal with their discomfort over your ability to think independently and to hold on to your moral core. They’ve surrendered both these things years ago, and they don’t understand that not everyone has or should.
So remember, “divisiveness” doesn’t mean that YOU say things that tear people apart. That’s his job. And they believe he has a right and an obligation to do so.
No.
“Divisiveness” = “you don’t understand that he can act however he wants.”
And “derangement” = “you get upset at vile things he says, because you don’t understand that your job is to let him bend thought and morality for you, like we have.”
Stay oriented. Stay standing up. You are yours. You are not his.
